Speaking to CNN TÜRK, MHP President Devlet Bahçeli said: “The state of the Dodecanese islands should be reassessed.”
The president of the MHP, Bahçeli, who conducted evaluations on the twelve islands, made the following statements:
The Dodecanese issue is the bleeding wound of the Turkish nation. These islands have been taken from us unfairly, unjustly and illegally. The state of the Dodecanese needs to be reassessed. The Aegean problem between Greece and us is really nothing more than the Dodecanese problem that is taking on a new dimension.
Turkey’s sovereignty and national security are threatened on the island.
According to the Treaties of Lausanne of 1923 and of Paris of 1947, 16 of the 23 islands that had to be demilitarized were quickly armed and turned into arsenal. This is wrong, careless, even treason. In particular, the stockpiling of weapons and soldiers made the Dodecanese more controversial, the legitimacy of international treaties violated and even destroyed.
While Greece and its tyrannical masters wanted to surround us, they fundamentally dynamited the legal status of the Dodecanese islands and documented the ownership vacuum of these islands.

Turkey has the right over the Dodecanese islands, you mentioned, there are memories, there are traces that do not.
When we consider the period since 1912 and events, it is completely contrary to the national spirit to deny and neglect our rights in the Dodecanese Islands.
Our studies and evaluations on the subject will continue.
Of course, what we will do and what we will say will be shared with the public respectively.
Our goal in the first place is this.

I believe that the Turkish youth of Ülkücü will enthusiastically provide all the necessary preparation and work starting today.
Remember that if we waive our right, we will be honored.
