Breaking News: Brother Said Don’t Go … Günay Özışık Was Rescued

A 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Aegean Sea at 14.51, off the Seferihisar district of Izmir. After 9 and a half hours from the 8-story Doğanlar apartment, which was destroyed in the Bayraklı district after the earthquake, a 15-year-old boy named Günay Özışık was injured. The boy was pulled out of the rubble to applause and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

According to the first information received from SAKOM, a total of 20 citizens lost their lives, one of them by drowning. A total of 799 citizens were injured, 738 in Izmir, 5 in Manisa, 2 in Balıkesir and 54 in Aydın. While search and rescue activities are being completed on 4 buildings out of 17 buildings in İzmir, work continues on 13 buildings. 3,204 search and rescue personnel from AFAD, JAK, NGOs and municipalities, 20 search and rescue dogs and 450 vehicles were assigned for search and rescue activities.
