National Education Minister Ziya Selçuk met with the parents of primary school first graders in a live broadcast on her Instagram account.
By addressing parents with a broadcast from a school, Selçuk responded to parents’ concerns about functioning during the epidemic period. Selcuk said that the developments were followed by a great team and since the beginning of the corona virus outbreaks in Turkey.
Selçuk, inspections continue in all of our schools. More than 3,000 of our inspectors are visiting schools. There are some charts, there are checklists. We have a control guide for the establishment of hygiene conditions in educational institutions ”.
THE TELEVISION LESSONS ARE ENOUGH FOR THE CURRICULUM
When talking about the face-to-face education that will be taught in schools twice a week, Selçuk used the following statements;
* There are different situations in all our homes. There are people with chronic illnesses at home. There may be some social situations. That is exactly why we said; “Parents can send their children to school if they want to.” But we, as the Ministry of National Education, have to give our other parents a chance.
* A separate channel for primary school, a separate channel for secondary school, a separate channel for secondary schools, separate sections for preschool education, in which the curriculum is covered. The number of countries where this type of service is provided does not exceed 3 in the world.
* Underline, for us, lessons on television are enough to complete a student’s school curriculum. Face-to-face training is a support for this. EBA Internet is a support for this. So it’s extra work.
THE NUMBER WILL INCREASE TO 20 THOUSAND
Selçuk said that the EBA Support Centers were established for students and parents who do not have access to the internet and computers, and that the number of EBA Support Centers established in the last month has exceeded 7 thousand. Selçuk said that this number will increase to 20,000 in a very short time.
CAN CHILDREN LEARN TO READ AND WRITE?
Noting that parents have concerns about the literacy process of first grade students, Minister Selçuk said:
* Of course, you are concerned about the literacy of our children. You can say, ‘How will this happen with distance education? Besides being the Minister of National Education, I am also here as Ziya’s teacher. And what I see, this difficult time is not just for us. It is a difficult time for everyone.
Therefore, overcoming such a task at a difficult time includes advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and crises as in any job. Make sure that children’s learning to read and write is something that we can easily handle in one way or another.
* But if we make this a great center of concern, then it will be boredom. We, those of us who deal with educational psychology, psychologists say that; ‘If the child has difficulties, this is an opportunity for him to acquire certain skills. So it’s a learning opportunity. ‘
* If we are talking about a situation in which our children focus on such solidarity with teachers and our parents are more careful in that period, our children will also have the opportunity to experience how their experiences will be enriched and how they will face such problems in times difficult.
