In his party’s group speech, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli harshly criticized Istanbul’s Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu for his announcement of the death toll from COVID 19.
In giving an assessment to SÖZCÜ on the matter, IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu said:
* “Respect for party leaders. I don’t argue with them. What I want to do is inform the citizen correctly and make sure that the appropriate measures are taken. There are examples in the world. Sometimes, thanks to the cry of a doctor in a country, success is achieved when the system in that country is based on transparency.
* My concern is that the process is managed with transparency. The presidents called me to find out the numbers of the deaths. I also gave information in a transparent way. I hope Mr. Bahçeli calls. I also refrain from calling when necessary, I share the process with you ”.
WHAT DOES THE LEADER OF MHP BAHÇELİ SAY?
The president of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) said the following at the meeting of his party’s group held today in Parliament:
* “In our opinion, those who arouse fear especially in terms of the number of cases and deaths have bad intentions. The vague statements of the mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality that refute the data of the Ministry of Health have nothing to prove.
* In such a period, pursuing a political interest is an unwary approach. What is the purpose of this ignorant man who meddles in municipal affairs while our Minister of Health fights day and night?
* Does the virus intend to cause a political and economic crisis, to unleash undemocratic formations? We guarantee that we will do our best in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey regarding the issue of Covid-19 being considered an occupational disease.
