WALL – The poet Yılmaz Odabaşı announced that he was detained in a statement he made on his personal Twitter account. Odabaşı said he was detained by the police officers who came when he was notary public and handed over to plainclothes policemen and taken to court. It was not announced in which case Odabaşı was convicted.
Odabaşı also shared a photo he took from inside the police car.
Odabaşı’s messages are as follows:
– From now on, incoming police officers detained me while conducting a notarial transaction and handed me over to plainclothes policemen. They are going to take me to court. “
– In the message Odabaşı shared right after these messages, “I am taken to Kandıra Prison.
Poet and writer Yılmaz Odabaşı was acquitted in 2017 of the case brought for insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his 2015 article. On January 25, 2017, Odabaşı was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for insulting Erdogan, and his sentence was suspended. (NEWS CENTER)
