In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office, which includes the statements in the report prepared by the civil inspectors of the Ministry of the Interior, indicated that Salman was obliged to observe and audit all the transactions carried out by the Financial Services Directorate, between 2014 and 2020, vouchers were issued falsified accounting and shipping orders, based on falsified documents. Yalova Municipality officials approached the Provincial Police Department after the detection of irregular transactions in the accounting records of Reşat E, who worked at the Directorate of Financial Services, on February 6, and a criminal complaint was filed with the prosecution.

In addition to Reşat E, who was captured in Denizli and taken to Yalova, Deputy Mayor Halit Güleç, financial services manager Ş.RK and contractor Bekir B. were arrested. Güleç’s secretary, later detained, and the accounting staff of the company cited in the OG investigation file, as well as TT, H.Ç. and the transfer to prison of 10 suspects, who allegedly received irregular payments from EG and the municipality, raised the number of detainees in the investigation to 19. One of these people was released pending trial.

Yalova Mayor Vefa Salman and Deputy Mayor Halit Güleç were suspended from their posts by the Interior Ministry on February 27.

In the 150-page indictment, which was presented to the Second Superior Criminal Court of Yalova by the Yalova Attorney General’s Office, all defendants, including the Mayor of Yalova, Vefa Salman, and the detained Deputy Mayor Halit Güleç, were requested to be sanctioned.
