The Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared an indictment in the framework of the Kobani incident investigation against 108 people, including Selahattin Demirtaş, who was decided by the Grand Chamber of the ECHR “to immediately release”.
Ankara’s General Prosecutor’s Office finalized the indictment against 108 suspects, including former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ, as part of the investigation into the protests against Kobani from October 6-8, 2014.
In the indictment, which was prepared by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Terrorist Crimes Investigation and sent to the 22 Ankara High Criminal Court, it was revealed that there were 108 suspects, 27 of whom were under arrest, 6 of whom were under judicial control, 75 of whom were to be arrested.
The indictment establishes that there are 2,676 victims who complain.
In the indictment, all the suspects were charged with various crimes, including “violating the unity and integrity of the State”, “37 murders” and “31 assassination attempts”.
The suspects were also asked to be punished for the crimes of “burning the flag” and opposition to the “Atatürk Protection Law”.

It was claimed that 37 citizens lost their lives as a result of the terrorist incidents that damaged public buildings and vehicles, residences, workplaces and vehicles with stones and sticks, and injured many citizens and law enforcement officials.
Former HDP Co-Chairs, Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ Şenoğlu, are also detained as part of the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office.
Erdogan and Soylu’s reaction to the ECHR
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan defended that the decision of the ECHR was political, saying: “Essentially, the ECHR cannot decide to replace our courts. Only the decisions that are made here are evaluated by our courts. The ECHR has made this decision before that domestic legal remedies are exhausted and has carried out an exceptional practice. “
Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said: “Demirtaş is a terrorist. The decision made by the ECHR for whatever reason is a decision in a vacuum, it does not make sense.”
