Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated on his Twitter account that Armenia publicly violated the ceasefire and carried out a missile attack against civilians living in the city of Ganja.
Describing the attack as a “war crime”, Aliyev declared that Armenia publicly violated the Geneva Conventions.
“The attack is another manifestation of Armenian fascism and the lack of respect for the negotiations held under the mediation of Russia. These vile attacks can never break the will of the Azerbaijani people,” Aliyev said.
Aliyev noted that the missile attack on Ganja was carried out from Vardenis province in Armenia and claimed that 41 civilians lost their lives and more than 200 civilians were injured in the attacks in Armenia in the last 2 weeks.
“ THE ADMINISTRATION OF ARMENIA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THESE CRIMES ”
Aliyev stated that Armenia aims to reoccupy the regions liberated by the Azerbaijani army and said: “The military and political administration of Armenia is responsible for all these crimes. Azerbaijan will give the necessary response to all these.”
Armenia and Azerbaijan had decided on a humanitarian ceasefire for the exchange of funerals and prisoners in Nagorno-Karabakh, effective from 12:00 on Saturday 10 October during meetings in Moscow.
At least 9 people were killed and 34 injured as a result of the Armenian army’s attack on the city of Ganja, Azerbaijan, with missiles within 24 hours of the ceasefire.
