Agencies announce with code ’emergency’: World Health Organization emergency use approval for BioNTech vaccine

According to the AFP report; The decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) will pave the way for countries around the world to import and distribute the BioNTech vaccine immediately.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, Turkey’s biontech / corona developed in collaboration with Pfizer announced that it has signed the agreements related to the virus vaccine.

According to the agreement; Turkey will be given 550,000 doses of vaccine until the end of the year. By March 2021, 4.5 million doses of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine will be available, depending on the agreement to be reached, up to 30 million doses.

Minister Fahrettin Koca signed the agreement with BioNTech CEO Prof. Dr. Expressing that Uğur Şahin made great efforts, expressed his gratitude.

THE FIRST VACCINE TO BE APPROVED

The Covid-19 vaccine developed by BioNTech / Pfizer with mRNA technology was the first vaccine approved by the WHO. The first country to approve this vaccine was the UK, then the US and Canada also approved it for emergency use. The European Medicines Agency and the EU Commission also approved the Pfizer vaccine on December 21.
