The 16th Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court of Appeals upheld Berberoğlu’s prison sentence on September 20, 2018 and decided to stay the execution of his sentence and release him until his term in parliament.
The final sentence for Enis Berberoğlu, who was released by Supreme Court decision, was read in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on June 4, 2020 and Berberoğlu’s parliamentary membership was removed from the CHP. The 14th Istanbul Superior Criminal Court ruled that the Constitutional Court’s decision against Enis Berberoğlu, who was removed as a deputy, was “ within the scope of the suitability check ” and withstood the 5-year, 10-month prison sentence awarded to Berberoğlu.
