In a statement made by the WHO, it was stated that innovative interventions, such as different use of existing drugs and application of traditional medical drugs, were well received in possible treatment research against Kovid-19.

In the statement recalled that the Artemisia plant is evaluated and used as a method of treatment against Kovid-19 in African countries, it was observed that the effectiveness and possible side effects of drugs obtained from such medicinal plants must be tested.

“The WHO knows that traditional, complementary and alternative medicine has many benefits, Africa has an ancient history of traditional medicine, and healers play an important role in the health of the African people,” the statement said.

Although treatments in traditional practices are natural, the statement emphasized that their efficacy and reliability must be tested in clinical trials, and that the WHO is cooperating with research institutions on this issue.

MADAGASKAR DEVELOPED HERBAL MEDICINES AGAINST KOVİD-19

Scientists at the Madagascar Institute for Applied Research developed “Covid Organics”, a mixture of artemisia plants used in the treatment of malaria and many herbs in the country.

At least 6 countries in Africa have applied for the drug, which is offered in 2 forms as preventive and therapeutic.

Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina recently announced that clinical trials of artemisia-based injectable drugs will begin this week.

The World Health Organization recognized that some herbal and traditional medicines alleviate Kovid-19 symptoms, but reported that there is no evidence that these substances prevent or cure the disease.
