The Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a statement at the ceremony held at the Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Cemetery on the occasion of Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Day on March 18, when a person who said he was related to a veteran reacted to him.
While İmamoğlu’s words, ‘I’ll look for you, I’ll find you’ became the agenda on social media, it turned out that the person in question, who said he was a relative of a veteran, was a former IMM employee.
Ekrem İmamoğlu said: “I think a citizen had an inconvenient attempt. Because when he said that I want to talk to him first, I replied” Let’s talk and wait. Then he made an effort to put on a show there screaming, “said Ekrem. İmamoğlu.
Imamoglu said, “No one should try to enter into such a relationship with me because of these religious feelings.”
“I am a veteran relative, I would not be expected to react differently.”
