In his speech on state television, Hassan said: “We lost our brave leader.”
Hassan said Magufuli had been treated at a hospital in Dar es Salaam since March 6 for a heart condition.
In the country, 14 days of national mourning for Magufuli have been declared.

The opposition in Tanzania yesterday asked for an immediate announcement on the health status of Magufuli, who has not been seen for about 2 weeks and is allegedly caught in the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19).
It was also claimed that the Tanzanian leader, who took no action by underestimating Kovid-19, received treatment for the virus in Kenya on March 10.
