The Ministry of National Defense issued a statement on the cause of the accident after the first investigations into the helicopter crash in the Tatvan district of Bitlis were completed. The statement included the following statements:
“In the first examinations carried out after the Cougar-type helicopter belonging to our Land Forces Command was damaged in the Tatvan district of Bitlis;
– No signs of explosion and burning were found in the wreckage area,
– Before the departure of the helicopter from Bingöl, the meteorological information was confirmed that there were no meteorological conditions that could adversely affect its activity in the Tatvan region.
In light of the aforementioned initial information, it is considered that the accident occurred due to adverse weather conditions that arose as a result of the abrupt change in weather conditions in the region.
The Crimean assigned team of the Land Forces Command accident was transferred to the region.
The final result will be determined as a result of a detailed technical investigation by the accident crushing team. “

With a Cougar-type military helicopter that left Bingöl at noon yesterday, contact was cut off at 2:25 p.m.
As a result of the search, it was revealed that the helicopter had crashed near the Tatvan district of Bitlis.
While 11 of our soldiers were martyred as a result of the accident, 2 soldiers were injured.
National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, who addressed the region where the incident occurred at night, claimed that the accident occurred due to adverse weather conditions according to initial assessments.
