Singer Serpil Barlas died at the age of 64. It was learned that Barlas died of heart failure due to a rhythm disturbance in his heart.

The famous singer Serpil Barlas was said to have died of heart failure due to a heart rhythm disturbance after having dinner at his home in Beşiktaş around 11pm last night.

Serpil Barlas’ funeral will be buried on Monday February 22 at the family cemetery where his grandmother, Macide Balkış, is located in Feriköy Cemetery.

Who is Serpil Barlas?

Her mother is Turkish music soloist Aysel İpar, her father is Kazım Polat. He began his artistic life in the theaters of the city in the 1960s. He was a soloist in famous orchestras of the time. In 1970, he came second after Nilüfer in the Golden Voice Competition.

Between 1976 and 1978, he made about 45 records and made a name for himself with the track titled What Happened (orj. Dibi Dibi Daba). 1978 Final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Turkey “Look at the Life” participated with the song. He settled in the United States in 1978 and lived in this country for 15 years.

After his return to Turkey in 1993, led by the artistic community in the fight against AIDS, he has signed a policy. He tried to attract public attention with his works on social issues such as AIDS, street children and the systematic genocide in Bosnia and played these themes on his albums with the support of the famous musician Uğur Dikmen, called “My Name is Human”, “Stray Children”, “Bosna”. He tried to defend the mission he undertook with his songs.
