33 people, 7 of whom are women, allegedly defrauding more than 7 thousand people for 150 million lira under the pretext of selling thermal timeshare properties in Afyonkarahisar, were captured by the gendarmerie operation.
The teams of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) Branch of the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Gendarmerie Command and the Directorate of the Intelligence Branch took action upon receiving notice that the deeds of the timeshare properties in the Gazlıgöl town in İhsaniye were rented to Arab and European Tourists.

It was determined that the suspects made sales to the victims whom they called through the call center they established, through the ‘mail order’ system and defrauded more than 7 thousand people for approximately 150 million lire with this method.

The teams raided several predetermined addresses in Afyonkarahisar and Izmir and detained 33 suspects. 33 suspects, 7 of whom are women, were transferred to the Afyonkarahisar Palace of Justice with extensive security measures after their operations in the gendarmerie.

Some women were seen crying by the suspects taken to court in minibuses.
During the transfer of the suspects, the victims also gathered at the entrance of the court and held banners.
19 SUSPECTIVES ARRESTED
It was known that 19 of the 33 suspects who appeared before the judge were arrested and 14 of them were released under the condition of judicial control.
WHAT IS THE MAIL ORDER SYSTEM?
The mail order system is briefly defined as a credit card transaction without a card. Mail order is a process that is done by writing the card information (card number, expiration date, and CVV) to the pos device without being physically adjacent to the pos device. After entering these 3 pieces of information into the pos device, the process continues as the normal sales process and the pos bank receives the authorization from the card bank. Since the card holder is not next to the pos device, only one slip occurs.

In the city of Gazlıgöl, famous for its thermal timeshare facilities, 4 owners of thermal facilities established a call center and began to communicate with people with timeshare properties on the premises via phones. It was alleged that the victims were dealing with the issuance of title deeds to the timeshare properties, that they would receive collateral amounts to be rented out to Arab and European tourists and give a dividend, and that the people selling through the system of Mail orders, using the same information, were fraudulent by withdrawing amounts greater than the current amounts. It was alleged that the individuals defrauded more than 7 thousand citizens approximately 150 million TL with these methods.
