Many cities like Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Ravalpindi, including the capital Islamabad, were buried in darkness due to power outages. Nor can electricity be supplied to Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
Islamabad Deputy Chief of Police Hamza Şefkat said in a statement shortly after the blackout that there was an outage due to a problem in the power lines of the National Electricity Transmission Company. Compassion stated that it would take time for the electricity to turn on.

Calling on Pakistanis to be patient, Eyüp noted that teams went to their places of duty to remove the cut. Eyüp said that as energy minister, he personally supervised efforts to eliminate the outage and that information will be released on the matter.
In a later publication, Minister Eyüp stated that 3 units from the Tarbela plant and some units from the Warsak plant were commissioned.
