British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that a national curfew has been re-declared to control the growing number of coronavirus cases in the country.
Prime Minister Johnson stated that the new variant of the coronavirus spread 50 to 70 percent faster than the previous wave, and that this puts pressure on hospital capacity.
Saying they are taking new steps to reduce the burden on hospitals, Johnson called on everyone to “stay home.” Warning that the next few weeks will be “difficult”, Johnson, referring to the vaccination studies, said: “I think we are entering the last stage of the fight.”
According to the new measures, access to the street is restricted except for purchases of basic necessities, physical exercise and access to health services. Employees in sectors that cannot support themselves from home will also be exempt from the restrictions.
Schools of all levels will also move to distance education.
‘Largest vaccination campaign’
Prime Minister Johnson declared that the country’s ongoing coronavirus vaccination campaign is “the largest vaccine study in history” and that this promises.
Johnson added that Britain is vaccinating more than the entire European Union.
Johnson said that if the plans go well, they will be able to administer the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in the four main priority categories in mid-February.
The first four categories identified in the vaccination campaign include the following groups: people living in nursing homes and nursing home workers, healthcare workers, social workers, and anyone over the age of 70.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was first introduced in the country on December 8. Finally, the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, produced in the country, was sent to hospitals for use by risk groups. The first vaccine was given to 82-year-old Brian Pinker.
Health Minister Matt Hancock described this as a pivotal moment in the country’s fight against the coronavirus.
The number of daily cases exceeds 50 thousand
The number of cases in the UK has exceeded 50,000 in the last week. It was determined that the number of people who tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours was 58,784. The number of people who lost their lives in the same period was 407.
The number of people admitted to hospital in the UK due to the coronavirus rose above the first wave in the spring.
3,145 people went to the hospital on January 2. As of April 1, this number was 3,199.
Opposition support
Kier Starmer, leader of the opposition Labor Party, said that “the situation we find ourselves in is extremely serious” and that the measures taken are necessary.
Starmer added that despite all his criticism of the government, it is necessary to unite in the effort that will take place in the coming weeks.
