Increases in civil servants and pensions are determined

Turkish Statistical Institute (TSI), in December 2020 inflation will be announced at 10:00 am on Monday.

Thus, the salary increase to be given to millions of civil servants and retirees in the first half of the year will be determined.

According to November inflation data from TURKSTAT, the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which is the basis for salaries of civil servants, increased by 2.30 percent in November compared to the previous month, while consumer prices increased 7.03 percent in the July-November period.

Thus, in the five-year period, while the 4 percent increase in wages was exceeded, the inflation difference occurred.

Salary increase and inflation difference on January 15

Officials, who received a 4 percent increase in the second half of last year due to collective bargaining, will receive an inflation difference if the CPI remains constant in December or if monthly inflation does not drop more than 3.03 percent.

Civil servants will be given a 3 percent raise in January this year according to the collective agreement.

Government officials, contractors, temporary staff and retired officials will receive their highest salaries and the inflation difference on January 15.

The inflation difference is calculated in 6-month increments

According to the collective agreement, the difference in inflation is calculated in periods of 6 months.

In the first 6 months of 2020, inflation was 5.75 percent, so in addition to the 4 percent rise in collective agreements for the period in question, the difference in inflation was reflected in the salaries of civil servants public.

On the other hand, SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will also receive an increase in their salaries according to the inflation rate of the last 6 months of last year.
