According to the news from the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the first dose of vaccines was administered to 73,537 people at 220 vaccination centers in the capital Beijing over the weekend.

Inactive vaccines developed by the public pharmaceutical companies Sinovac and Sinopharm were used for vaccination. Both vaccines contain the weakened and inactivated version of the virus in their formula.
The National Medical Device Administration granted “conditional release” to the vaccine on December 31, 2019 for the vaccine developed by Sinopharm with the Beijing Institute of Biological Products.
The Beijing administration approved the emergency use of Sinopharm’s two candidate vaccines in September. In a statement made last November, the company reported that 1 million people were given vaccine candidates within the scope of emergency use and that no symptoms were found “except for mild symptoms seen in some people.”
Sinovac’s vaccine has also been applied to risk groups within the scope of emergency use since July.
