New development in the Pınar Gültekin case

In the case of the brutal murder of Pınar Gültekin at the vineyard house in Muğla, the mental health report requested by the court appeared at the first hearing. In the report, the defendant Cemal Metin Avcı said: “There is no mental illness, criminal responsibility is complete.”

The trial of the defendants Cemal Metin Avcı and his brother Mertcan Avcı for the murder of the university student Gültekin will continue tomorrow. The defendant Cemal Metin Avcı will attend the second hearing to be held at the 3rd Superior Criminal Court of Muğla through the Audio and Video Information System of the prison where he was detained. The other detained defendant, Mertcan Avcı, will make a defense before the judicial committee.

Gültekin’s relatives, the lawyer from the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Services, representatives of the Muğla Bar Association, members of women’s rights associations and party lawyers are expected to attend the hearing, which will begin at 1.30 p.m. hours.

At the hearing, it is expected that the expert report on the discovery made on December 23, 2020 will be evaluated and 2 witnesses will be heard.

It is also expected that the hearing will evaluate the reports sent from the institution of forensic medicine for the diagnosis of the defendant Cemal Metin Avcı’s panic attack and the determination of the exact cause of Gültekin’s death.

The young woman’s ex-boyfriend, Cemal Metin Avcı, and her brother Mertcan Avcı, were arrested in connection with the discovery of the body of Pınar Gültekin (27), a student at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University, Department of Economics (27), who lives alone in Akyaka district, on July 21, 2020, 5 days after his disappearance.
