In a statement made by the Honda Motor company on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, it was reported that they will suspend car sales in the Russian market from 2022. The Honda company stated that it made this decision within the framework of efforts to restructure its international operations and that no cars will be shipped to authorized dealers in Russia after the specified date.
According to information in the Ministry of Commerce, it was reported that sales of motorcycles and generators in the Russian market will continue, and the service, maintenance and auto parts services will continue to provide uninterrupted service.
Unlike other Japanese companies like Toyota and Nissan, Honda does not have a car factory in Russia.
Honda’s total car sales in Russia fell 50% year-on-year to 79 units last November, according to data from the European Business Association operating in Russia. In the period from January to November, sales fell 15% annually and the total number of cars sold was 1,383. In the same period, the total number of cars sold in Russia was 1.3 million units.
