Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova announced that more than 80% of deaths in Russia in 2020 were related to the coronavirus. After this announcement, it turned out that the number of deaths from coronavirus in Russia was three times higher than previously reported.

Deputy Prime Minister Golikova said the Russian government has not withheld any death data. “I would like to point out that more than 81% of this increase in the mortality rate can be attributed to Kovid-19 and the effects of the virus.” Said.
He also said that coronavirus-related deaths in Russia were higher in November than in any other period this year, and that November and December were worse than previous months, because deaths related to coronavirus and seasonal illnesses increased during the autumn and winter period.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said the country’s health system is more effective than the rest of the world in fighting the virus, but hospitals in many parts of the country said extraordinary efforts must be made to cope with the increase in the number of patients.
Russia has pinned its hopes on the Sputnik V vaccine, which is exported to Belarus, Argentina and Hungary, despite not being approved by the European Union Agency for Medicines (EMA).
