The free trade agreement between Turkey and the United Kingdom will be signed today at 3.30 pm. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a statement following the cabinet meeting held yesterday and mentioned the agreement to be signed today with Great Britain and “President Erdogan”, the Free Trade Agreement with Great Britain will be our most important trade agreement after the Agreement of Customs union. The agreement to be signed by the two countries will ensure the continuation of the current commercial conditions between Ankara and London.
British International Trade Minister Liz Truss said she hopes that a special agreement between the two countries will be signed very soon.
“This week we hope to sign duty-free trade regulations and this will support our business relationship. It will bring clarity to thousands of jobs in the UK steel, automotive and manufacturing industries,” Truss said in a written statement.
Truss also said: “Now, England and Turkey in the near future a single trade agreement between England and Turkey with Turkey to make work look forward,” he added.
