Russia continued to strengthen its presence in and around Hasakah, which is occupied by the YPG / PKK terrorist organization in northeast Syria, increasing the number of soldiers to 1,000.
According to information obtained from local sources, Russia has accelerated in the last month the accumulation of bases and other military points in Hasakah province, east of the Euphrates River.
During the month of December, the Russian army sent transport planes from Hmeymim air base in Latakia to hundreds of armored personnel carriers and logistics trucks to the Qamishli district of Hasakah.
Last week, a large number of Russian soldiers arrived in the Qamishli district from Latakia, along with 2 fighter jets and 6 helicopters.
The soldiers were deployed to the Qamishli airport and the nearby Russian base under the control of the Assad regime.
After the reinforcements, the number of Russian soldiers stationed in and around the airport doubled to 1,000.
FORCES OF THE RUSSIAN ARMY TRAINING REGIME
Russia gathered 1,200 people from groups that were in the ranks of the regime and supported especially in different regions of the country at the Qamishli airport.
Russian commanders train regime soldiers, divided into groups of 300, in areas such as heavy weapons and snipers.
Training starts early in the morning at Qamishli airport, each group is commanded by 3 Russian soldiers.
PRESENCE OF RUSSIA IN THE REGION
Turkey’s YPG / October 9, 2019 against the PKK In the spring launch of Operation Peace, some bases vacated by US troops in northern Syria were colonized by Russian forces.
Since then, Russia has strengthened its presence by increasing the number of bases and outposts in the YPG / PKK-occupied areas east of the Euphrates River.

After Operation Peace Fountain, the Russian military made many attempts to reach the Rumeylan oil fields in eastern Qamishli, but the US military was obstructed.
Russia’s growing fortifications are also expected to strain military balances with the United States.
THE PRESENCE OF THE REGIME IN HASEKE
As the YPG / PKK continue their occupation throughout Hasakah, the Assad regime controls Kevkep Mountain, the security unit and the 156th Brigade in the center of the city.
Again, in the center of Qamishli, there is an airport belonging to the regime, a military brigade and a security unit. Some state institutions in Hasakah province are also operated by the Assad regime.
