An interesting development took place in the electric prayer action held in the Aşağıkarıncalı neighborhood of the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa. DEDAŞ filed a criminal complaint against 15 residents of the neighborhood who prayed for the electricity, claiming that it “incited the public to hatred and hostility against DEDAŞ.”
“PURPOSE OF SUPPRESSING THE FREEDOM OF SEARCH”
CHP Istanbul MP Mahmut Tanal, who assessed DEDAŞ’s criminal complaint against citizens who prayed for electricity, said:
* Our citizens, whose power was constantly cut off, filed a criminal complaint with the allegation that they “provoked the people to hatred and enmity” because they prayed for the light. These people do not have statements about hatred and hatred of one section of the people against the other, and they do not have statements about the people.
* Just as Diyanet went to the rain prayer, these citizens also went to the electric prayer because they were victims of the constant power outage. Does DSI stand up and file a criminal complaint about Diyanet?
The logic of DEDAŞ’s criminal complaint is that they use the Public Ministry as a tool to silence, repress and intimidate the freedom of the people to seek legal remedies against DEDAŞ in this way. For an act to be a crime, there must be a caste from the beginning.
“I WAIT FOR THE DECISION OF NO FOLLOW UP”
Stating that he hopes that the criminal complaint filed against the citizens will result in non-prosecution, Tanal continued his words as follows:
* These citizens mean only electricity to come. Otherwise, it does not do so with the intention of letting one sector of the citizenry act against the other. The intention is a legal element and not a criminal one.
* The company commits the crime of defamation against citizens who make an electric sentence for filing a criminal complaint with the Public Ministry for citizen persecution for a crime they did not commit
* I hope that the Public Ministry will give a decision of non-prosecution regarding these citizens. But if this case is brought for political reasons, I will wear my lawyer’s coat and act as an attorney for these citizens for free and for public service.
