Through Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyers for the Gültekin family, the murderer filed a complaint against Avcı, the father and mother of the murderer Selim – Ayten Avcı, as well as the partner of father Selim Avcı, Şükrü Gökhan Orhan, within the framework of the crime of ‘destroying, concealing and changing criminal evidence’.

According to Hayrettin Şaşmaz’s report from the Sabah Newspaper, the lawyer for the Gültekin family, Epözdemir, took action against the decision of the 2nd Criminal Court of Peace and addressed the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice. In the petition prepared by Epözdemir, he was requested to address the Attorney General of the Supreme Court with the request to revoke the law.

The Ministry of Justice made a critical decision on the file. The Ministry decided to go to the Attorney General of the Supreme Court with the request to violate the file for the benefit of the law. In the letter of request sent by the Ministry to the Attorney General of the Supreme Court, it was stated that there was sufficient evidence to initiate a public process against the suspects. The final decision on the Ministry’s request will be made by the corresponding department of the Supreme Court.

Speaking on the matter, attorney Rezan Epözdemir said:
“From the beginning of the investigation we thought that this murder could not be committed alone. We made a statement to the file in this regard. We think that there were other perpetrators besides Cemal Metin Avcı who definitely helped or participated in the murder as co-perpetrators. Mertcan Avcı was also arrested first and a public lawsuit was filed against the last charge. But we have also said that there are other perpetrators. We have added this to our request many times. However, the prosecution for the parents and Şükrü Gökhan Orhan decided that there was no need to prosecute. We submitted our request to the Ministry of Justice regarding the revocation for the benefit of the law. The Ministry of Justice thoroughly examined our request and the entire file and accepted our request for revocation for the benefit of the law and requested it before the Supreme Court. This opinion is of the utmost importance in terms of research. said it should be opened and said the court should appreciate it. In line with this decision, the Attorney General of the Supreme Court of Appeals will submit a request to the Criminal Chamber for the benefit of the law. As soon as the corresponding criminal office accepts this request, it will be sent to the Muğla Prosecutor General’s Office to open a public case against these names. The legal path will be opened for these people to be tried. “
