According to the statement made by the Ministry of Health, the meeting held by the Coronavirus Scientific Committee ended at 5.30 p.m. to discuss vaccination studies by the videoconference method.
Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said in his statement: “We received the good news of being a country where the WHO eliminated rubella in a period in which the preparations of the Kovid-19 vaccine were the most intense. We are determined to show the same success in the fight against Kovid-19 “.
The statement by Minister Koca is as follows:
The COVID 19 pandemic continues to die in our country and around the world. Our struggle with all our institutions continues. We hope to see the results of more meticulous compliance by our citizens with the restrictive measures we have implemented in recent weeks. As a Ministry, we are in an intense effort to implement the measures and monitor compliance and results.
The members of the Scientific Committee, made up of distinguished scientists from our country, make a significant contribution to the management of this process with their hard work without expecting any reward. In this meeting of our Scientific Committee, in the first place, the advances in vaccination were evaluated.
They discussed the strategy to be carried out from the arrival of the inactivated vaccine, which is expected to arrive in our country as the first batch depending on the contract. Information was shared on studies and interviews on increasing the amount of vaccine to be provided and the provision of alternative vaccines.
DESCRIPTION OF THE HOUSEHOLD VACCINE
Meanwhile, it has been claimed that our promising national vaccine studies will contribute to solving the problem in the medium and long term. The phase I clinical trial of an inactivated vaccine has now been completed and phase II studies are in preparation. Simultaneously, 2 inactivated and 2 adenovirus-based vaccines and a virus-like particle vaccine have also reached Phase I, and after the necessary investigations, the first research products will be produced and launched.
However, the importance of focusing primarily on early vaccination has been expressed. Phase III studies of an inactivated vaccine (sinovac) and an mRNA vaccine (pfizer) are being carried out in our country. Chronic toxicity studies prior to phase III of an adenovirus (sputnik V) vaccine are also underway. The phase III study of this vaccine is expected to begin as soon as possible. Based on current data, it was noted that no significant side effects were observed in the Phase III studies conducted in our country, as well as the information obtained on the reliability of the inactivated vaccine.
Our Scientific Committee also made suggestions about the logistics of the vaccine, the scope of health personnel to be vaccinated, the generalized vaccination program, and the vaccine registration system.
” OUR RESPONSE HAS INCREASED ONE MORE WITH THE GOOD WILL OF WHOM ”
On this day when the COVID 19 vaccine and its ability to vaccinate are at the top of the agenda, the World Health Organization has increased our perseverance with its good news. This fact, which was well received by the members of the Scientific Committee, is that we have become a country where rubella is completely eliminated after polio and tetanus.
December 16, 2020, in which we are working hard with the fight against the pandemic, is a very important day in terms of the success of our country’s immunization. Due to the interruption for three consecutive years of the circulation of the measles virus between the years 2017-2019 by the Regional Verification Committee, which official established in the European Region of the WHO declared that the rubella of Turkey was completely destroyed, it was He expressed for them to celebrate and the related certificate will be sent in the coming weeks.
As a society, we have an important culture of vaccination. We are one of the countries with the most common vaccination and the greatest success in childhood vaccines with more antigens. In addition to a strong primary health care network supported by a vaccine registration system and cold chain logistics with online tracking, the persistent efforts and sacrifices of our health professionals who have worked on this issue for years are the main owners of this success.
I congratulate and thank all of our staff who have been practicing vaccinations in the field for years. This success story will guide the COVID 19 vaccine campaign. On this occasion, we believe that we will carry out a vaccination campaign that will be an example for the world, especially in our Family Health Centers, together with universities, institutions of public and private health and all our citizens.
