Castex said in a statement in the National Assembly that the virus continues to spread in the country.
Stating that the peak was reached 10 days ago in the second wave, but could not ensure that the epidemic was controlled, Castex claimed that they ordered 200 million doses of vaccine for 100 million people.
Castex stated that when the European Medicines Agency (EMA) completes the approval process for the vaccine, it will begin vaccination against Kovid-19 in the country at the end of the month.
VACCINATION OF 1 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE FIRST STAGE
Specifying that 1 million elderly people will be vaccinated in the first stage, Castex said it will take between 6 and 8 weeks.
Castex noted that approximately 14 million people in the risk group will be vaccinated in the second stage.
Noting that in the third and final stage, the remaining part of the population will be vaccinated in late spring, Castex indicated that everyone will receive two doses of vaccine at 21-day intervals.
Castex stated that starting next month, healthcare workers will go to the homes of people who test positive for Kovid-19.
Prime Minister Castex said just because vaccination begins does not mean the epidemic is over.
