It was claimed that Russian opponent Aleksey Navalny was killed a second time after they tried to kill him by poisoning. British media, citing German sources, claimed that after surviving the first attack, he tried to kill Russian opponent Alexey Navalny with the nerve agent Novichok for the second time.
He was allegedly given another dose while in a coma since he was unloaded from the plane on August 22 and taken to Berlin for treatment. The deadly nerve agent Novichok was said to have been used again against Aleksey Navalny, in the hope that she would die before coming to Berlin for treatment.
ALLEGED POISONING OF NAVALNIA
The plane landed in the city of Omsk after Navalny, who boarded the plane from Tomsk, Russia to Moscow on August 20, fell ill during the flight. Navalny, who was taken to the Omsk hospital, was alleged to have been poisoned with a substance mixed with his tea.
Navalny, 44, was flown from Omsk by private plane to Berlin’s Charite Hospital for treatment on August 22. German government spokesman Steffen Seibert announced on September 2 that it was determined that Navalny was definitely poisoned with a chemical belonging to the Novichok group used in the fight against nervous diseases.
Charite Hospital reported that Navalny’s health was improving and that he was out of a coma. Seibert noted that the poisoning of Russian dissident Aleksey Navalny was confirmed by 2 other independent laboratories in Sweden and France.
WHO IS NAVALNY?
Navalny is considered the most important rival of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Known for his fight against corruption in the country, Navalny, a former lawyer, is known for his protests outside the Kremlin.
While Navalny, who was frequently imprisoned, remained in prison from 2012 to 2014, the European Court of Human Rights found Moscow guilty of human rights violations. The court ruled that Navalny had been kept inside for political reasons. (DHA)
