The commission to determine the minimum wage will hold its second meeting on Tuesday, December 15.
Responding to questions from the Anadolu Agency before the meeting, Türk-İş President Ergün Atalay asked the employer and the government to present the first figure at the meetings.
Atalay said: “First, the employer and the government should bring the figure. If there is a logical and reasonable number that the employees will accept and smile, we will say ‘yes.’
WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE END OF DECEMBER
The salary determination process for approximately 7 million employees next year will be completed by the end of December.
The minimum wage for 2020 was 2,943 gross lira, 2,324 net lira and 70 kuruş.
The net minimum wage figures based on years are as follows:
2019: 2 thousand 20 TL
2018: 1603 TL
2017: 1404 TL
2016: 1300 TL
2015: Jan 1-949 TL, July 1-1000 TL
2014: Jan 1-846 TL, July 1-891 TL
2013: Jan 1-773 TL, July 1-803 TL
HOW IS THE MINIMUM WAGE DETERMINED?
The minimum wage is determined by the Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which consists of 15 people, 5 workers, employers and state representatives, as required by law. While Türk-İş represents the workers’ side on this commission, as it is the confederation with the largest number of members, TİSK has a table on behalf of the employer.
