Yesterday, anonymous gunmen raided the state-owned residential high school in Kankara County, Katsina State, northwestern Nigeria.

Police spokesman Gambo Isah stated that the attack took place at 9:40 p.m. local time, fire was opened on the attackers to protect the students and a policeman was injured in the clash that broke out.

Isah explained that it is not yet clear how many students disappeared or were kidnapped, working with the army and air force to find the students.

A school official said in a statement that there are 800 students at the school and half of the students are still missing. The official announced that the parents were meeting to search for the missing students.

In Katsina, the hometown of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, there are frequent armed attacks and ransom kidnappings.

The governor of Katsina, Aminu Masari, ordered the closure of all internees in the state after the attack.
The use of motorcycles has been banned in some states because gunmen have recently attacked the country with motorcycles.

The region is the scene of violent clashes between the Fulani, who sometimes raise animals, and some tribes who make a living from agriculture.

On the other hand, the beheading of many farmers by a radical terrorist organization in Borno state last month in Nigeria caused outrage in the country.
