Other support for nearly 20 women who announced that writer Hasan Ali Toptaş was harassing them came from Everest Publishing, which published Toptaş’s books.
The publisher announced that it had parted ways with the author in a statement on social media: “To the public, we have parted ways with the author Hasan Ali Toptaş. We are against all kinds of harassment, we will continue to be against him. Sincerely.”
The Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry also announced that the Mersin City Literature Prize, awarded to Hasan Ali Toptaş this year, has been withdrawn from the author. In its statement, the award board said: “We cannot ignore, tolerate or ignore these accusations about Hasan Ali Toptaş. We have decided to withdraw the award that we awarded to Toptaş due to our humanitarian, moral, conscientious and literary responsibility.”
