The ‘Global Security’ bill that caused controversy and demonstrations in France and increasing police violence were again protested in the capital, Paris.

While protesters carried a banner saying ‘The security law must be withdrawn’ and ‘France is the country of police rights’, some protesters broke shop windows and burned barricades with cars. Many stun grenades were used in the incident and there was a brief clash between the police and the protesters who were scattered in the streets.

22 PEOPLE DETENTED

It was announced that 22 protesters were detained by the police in action. French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, in his post on his social media account, stated that “22 arrests were made in connection with the demonstration in Paris.”

The “Global Security” bill was approved by vote in the National Assembly. The bill was approved by Parliament with 388 “yes” and 108 “no” votes in the vote in Parliament, which had 577 deputies. The Senate is expected to review the bill adopted in January 2021.

Article 24 of the global security bill implies a police officer or gendarme sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros for disseminating “facial images or other elements of identity”. The substance sparks discussions and protests across the country. The draft bill, supported by the police unions, received a great reaction from journalists and citizens.

The bill also increases the chances that the police will see citizens. With the law, the police will now be able to shoot with drones at any event and share live images from the camera they carry with their centers.
