Britain approved the use of the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer / BioNTech. Thus, England became the first Western country to approve a developed Covid-19 vaccine.
The UK drug and treatment regulatory agency, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) announced that it has approved the emergency use of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine.
The UK has ordered 40 million doses of this vaccine and 10 million doses are expected to be ready by the end of the year.
Meanwhile, it is claimed that the supervisory agency in Europe has announced that a decision cannot be made until the end of December, which means that vaccination programs in Europe cannot start before 2021.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has just started reviewing data from recent trials of the Pfizer vaccine. EMA announced yesterday that it has received final data from Pfizer and the American company Moderna, which produces a similar vaccine.
The EMA announced that it will make its decision at the extraordinary meeting to be held on December 29 at the latest.
In the US, the Food and Drug Administration is reviewing the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine with a decision expected on December 10.
It is noted that mass vaccination plans in the UK are also at an advanced stage. However, it is noted that the logistics will be difficult, as the vaccine must be kept at -70 degrees. The vaccine can only be kept in normal refrigerators for five days.
It is stated that after the vaccine is brought in from Belgium, where it was produced, the MHRA and the Public Health Agency will pass the vaccines through a quality test and check whether the shipping conditions are met. Subsequently, it is planned to send the vaccines to hospitals to be administered first to healthcare professionals. It is observed that with the arrival of the vaccine, four to six days may pass between the first doses.
In the Daily Telegraph newspaper special news, it was announced that the British Army was asked to help convert 10 major centers across the country into a vaccine center within 15 days.
It is observed that in each large city, in addition to the large centers, around 1000 smaller points, family doctors, pharmacies, small health clinics, converted sports centers and various buildings will be used for vaccination.
