Member of the European Parliament (EP) Jozsef Szajer, the architect of the amendment to the Hungarian constitution banning same-sex marriage, was raided at an illegal sex party at a gay bar in Brussels.

In the raid carried out by the police, the conservative politician, who was said to have drugs in his bag, resigned from his position.

According to Belgian media, in Brussels, where a curfew was imposed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., the police received a notice on Friday night that, despite the ban, it was being held. an unauthorized party in the center of Steenstraat.

Police entered the building to put an end to an illegal act carried out on the first floor of a gay bar near the police station, and met 25 people who were holding a gay orgy party, most of them naked.

Among those who participated in the gay sex party, it was revealed that there were European MP Jozsef Szajer and two high-ranking diplomats from the European Union (EU) who were members of the party of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who were recently criticized for your anti-LGBT views.

The Hungarian politician, who tried to escape from a nearby sewer pipe by jumping out of the window after the raid on the sex party, was caught by police.

Drugs were reported in Szajer’s backpack, who was slightly injured in the hand during his escape.

Jozsef Szajer, who said he did not have an identity card, opposed the decision, stating that he had diplomatic immunity when he was detained by the police.

The Hungarian politician, a member of the conservative European People’s Party (MEP), which has a majority in the EP, made a statement on Tuesday admitting that he “joined the private party” in Brussels.

Szajer said: “I was at the party. The police asked for an identity card. I said I was a member of AP because I did not have an identity card. The police warned me verbally and took me to my house,” he said.

The Brussels Prosecutor’s Office reported that EP member Szajer also contained drugs in his bag. An investigation has been launched against the Hungarian MP for possession of drugs and violating coronavirus measures.

Szajer argued that the drug was not his. Sazjer, who said he had offered police evidence after the incident, claimed he did not know who put the drug pill.

Apologizing to his wife, family and voters, the Hungarian politician announced that he was resigning from the EP membership.

‘I’m sorry to have violated Covid-19 restrictions’

Szajer noted that his behavior was irresponsible, saying: “I am sorry to have violated Covid-19 restrictions. I am satisfied with my punishment.

A European Parliament official expressed the view that “there is nothing wrong with participating in any sex parties, but such activities are prohibited by coronavirus measures. Having parliamentary immunity does not give anyone the right to act against the law.” .

The 57-year-old politician, one of the leading names in the right-wing Fidezs Party led by Prime Minister Orban, is the architect of changes to the Hungarian constitution that restrict same-sex marriage and define marriage only between men and women.

Szajer, one of the founders of Fidezs and known as Prime Minister Orban’s “confidant”, was a member of the EP for 16 years. The Hungarian politician has been vice president of the MEP for 11 years.

Szajer’s impression at a gay orgy party is seen as a major blow to the Fidezs Party, which has campaigned for traditional family values and proposed a ban on gay adoption.

After the constitutional amendment made in 2011, the Orban government follows a policy based on family values, frequently highlighting anti-gay rhetoric.

Szajer says he contributed to the government’s conservative practices and wrote the proposed constitutional amendment.
