The president of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), Ekrem İmamoğlu, was informed that the terrorist organization ISIS had planned an assassination attempt. The Interior Ministry warned İmamoğlu’s bodyguards. Security measures were increased. However, IMM sources told Halk TV that there was no information that the team or the people who were planned to kill were captured.

Arslan said IMM had known about the assassination attempt for a week but did not explain it so as not to create chaos.
