Health Minister Fahrettin Koca responded to journalists’ questions about vaccination at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Koca responded to the question about the future date of the vaccine:

* Usually we want to start the vaccine intensively. About this, 50 million contracts were signed for the vaccine, which we call inactive, which we think was less technically known before.

* We will have planned at least 10 million and probably 20 million in December, we will have provided 20 million in January and 10 million in February.

* Especially in this period, we are planning a more intensive vaccination with the goal of December and January.

* We are in intensive discussions about the Pfizer vaccine. Regarding the Pfizer vaccine, our focus was to take all the vaccine they could provide us through April, as our local vaccine will go live in April and beyond.

DATE FOR MINISTER KOCA’S VACCINE: DECEMBER 11

Minister Koca stated that they are in contact with companies that can obtain licenses in the initial period in the world and said:

* As an objective, we want to vaccinate our citizens, especially targeting the beginning of December and January.

* On the one hand, the first phase of our local vaccine will probably be finished on December 14 and 15. If you continue in this way, you pass phase two.

* We believe that our national vaccine can also be used in phase three in April. Our vaccine is an inactivated vaccine, we have 16 different mRNAs, vectors and similar vaccines. We are closely monitoring the studies on these.

* Let us know that our first vaccine is inactive, technologically known, inactivated vaccines are more expensive, not easy, and other vaccines, mRNA and the like, can be produced more intensively.

* We prefer the reliable and effective vaccine for our citizens, and we are in favor of providing it in the initial period.

* I think our scientific committee is currently preparing the relevant strategy, starting with healthcare professionals in the early period after December 11th. In this strategy, health professionals will complete the work on who should be done and how it should be done within a week and 10 days at the most.

When asked about the protection of the vaccine, Koca said: “Everyone can have a different strategy. We have to prefer the vaccine that our citizens especially trust and whose effectiveness we know. Our scientific committee will also know it and will be able to inform the approach on this subject ”. İHA
