As part of the investigation initiated to investigate whether there was negligence in the death of the legendary soccer player Diego Armando Maradona, the address and private practice of his doctor Leopoldo Luque were searched.
The San Isidro Prosecutor’s Office registered the address of his doctor Luque in the city of Almirante Brown, province of Buenos Aires and his private clinic in the Buenos Aires capital, within the framework of the investigation initiated for the crimes of “involuntary homicide” and “abandonment “for the death of Maradona.
The police confiscated Maradona’s medical records, the doctor’s cell phone, two tablets and two laptops. Suspect Luque is expected to give a statement.
The investigation investigates whether Maradona had been neglected in the period from his admission to the Ipensa Clinic on November 2 for general controls until his death.
Luque said at the time that Maradona had psychological problems, did not eat and had problems with dehydration and anemia.
Local media reports indicated that the search warrant was issued after statements by Dalma, Gianinna and Jana, Maradona’s daughters, demanded a review of the drugs Luque and his team had prescribed in recent months.
Maradona, one of the greatest players in soccer history, was hospitalized in early November and underwent brain surgery.
Maradona died of “acute lung edema due to chronic heart failure” in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, November 25.
