According to the information obtained, the incident took place on 22 November in the Çiçek district of the Tarsus district of Mersin. Cihat Ercan (49), a farmer allegedly, rented the agricultural land from Eren Yiğit for 60 thousand lire. When Ercan did not give him the money to use the field even though he took the money, Yiğit asked him to return the money. When Ercan did not give him the money or the field, Yiğit went to Ercan’s house with his friends. Yiğit took Ercan, who they bought at home in the morning, to an orange grove in Adana.
The people who tied Ercan’s hands and feet began to beat him with the billiard sticks they brought to give the money. Ercan, who was hit all over the body, passed out. Meanwhile, Ercan’s family went to the gendarmerie and filed a disappearance request after he failed to return home. The gendarmerie determined that Ercan was kidnapped from Adana as a result of his work. Teams from the Office of Extortion and Murder affiliated with the Directorate of the Public Security Branch of the Adana Police Department launched an operation to catch the suspects.

Meanwhile, in order not to be caught, the suspects continued to take Ercan to another garden and beat him. At noon, the suspects were hungry, reached the city center and returned to the garden, carrying food. The suspects continued to beat Ercan after a lunch break. Not content with the torture of the suspects with billiard sticks, he dipped Ercan’s head into water and tortured him for minutes. Meanwhile, murder detectives captured Umut Y., who was allegedly among those who kidnapped Ercan from his study to find him. The police questioned Umut Y. and tried to find out where Ercan was.
Meanwhile, it was determined that an injured man who was left in front of a private hospital in the city around 6:00 p.m. on the day of the incident died around 11:00 p.m. and was Cihat Ercan. Following this, when the murder detectives delved into Umut Y.’s question, he took Cihat Ercan, Eren Yiğit’s brother, Umut Y., Zeynel Abidin A., Edip E., Zahir S., Serdal Ş. and Murat S., who was kidnapped and beaten. The police immediately launched an operation to arrest these suspects. Police caught the suspects after a while.

As a result of police work, it was revealed that after Cihat Ercan was abducted from his home, he was taken to a garden house in Adana and tortured there. Ercan’s hands and feet were found to be bound and beaten with billiard sticks and his head was submerged in water.
One of the suspects, Eren Yiğit, was alleged to have smashed 2 billiard sticks on Ercan’s back. Eren Yiğit, who was arrested, was alleged to have said in his statement that they did not want to kill him and that Ercan was beaten to scare him and get his money.
While 6 suspects who were transferred to court after their actions at the police station were arrested by the court to which they were taken, Murat S. was released pending trial on condition of judicial control.
Cihat Ercan, who lost his life, was buried in the district of Tarsus, in the preliminary autopsy report a large amount of water was found in his liver, while fractures from multiple injuries were found in his skull, face and body.
