Nodira M., a citizen of Uzbekistan, stated that she wanted to go to Topkapı on July 28, 2020 and got on the minibus from Yüzüncüyıl district. When the minibus, which moved forward for a while, arrived at the Democracy bus station on July 15, the passengers alighted.
Seeing that there was no one left in the minibus, Nodira M. told the minibus driver İzzet A: “I will go to Topkapi. Why did you bring me here? Where we are? ” she asked.
“OPEN YOUR HOUSE, LET’S BE FRIENDS”
Suspect driver Izzet A. said: “I got you wrong, I brought you wrong. I’ll give you your money for the road. I’ll take you back, I’ll take you in the Topkapi van. “
Supposedly, after the truck left, the driver Izzet A. “Where are you from? I need a cleaner. Let’s meet, let’s be friends. If I need money, I will. I’ll help you, I’ll give you money ”and the harassment began.
Nodira M, who was disturbed by the words of the driver İzzet A., who kept harassing him saying “I will take care of it, I will open a house, I will take care of you” said, “What do you say, I am married. Put me down, ”he replied.
THE FORCE TAKES THE NUMBER
However, İzzet A., the driver who stopped the minibus, said: “Nothing will happen, you may be married. He continued to harass the complainant by telling him: “Give me your number and let’s be friends.” The driver, Izzet A., who did not open the door, asked Nodira for her phone number.
Fearing that the driver would insist on asking for her phone and not opening the door, Nodira M. gave her phone number. After getting the number, the driver Izzet A. opened the door and let Nodira M. get out. The driver Izzet A. then sent a message to the complainant Nodira M. “Call me.”
After learning of the incident, Nodira M’s friends called the Federation of Minibuses and explained the situation, and she took the driver’s certificate and dismissed her duty. Nodira M. filed a criminal complaint with the Bakırköy Prosecutor’s Office through lawyer Caner Şahin.
LAWS ON TWO CRIMES
As a result of the incident investigation, a lawsuit was filed against the suspected driver Izzet A. In the prepared indictment, it was stated that the suspected driver Izzet A. did not accept the charges in the statement. In the indictment, which said there was no sound recording on the vehicle’s camera recordings, it was noted that the complainant Nodira M did not have any animosity that required slander the suspect, and the suspected driver sent a “Call me” message.
The indictment demanded that the suspect, who prevented Nodira M from landing for a time by making statements about sexual harassment and not opening the door, and then sent a message, be sentenced to 1 year 9 months to 9 years and 6 months for the crimes of “depriving the person of his freedom” and “sexual harassment”. The suspect Izzet A. will appear before the judge of the Bakırköy Criminal Court of First Instance in the next few days.
“I WAS FREE IN MY MIND. I’M VERY AFRAID”
Nodira M. stated that she got on the minibus at 08:00 on the day of the incident and said she wanted to go to Topkapi and explained her experiences as follows:
* I couldn’t follow the road because the minibus was crowded. Finally, the truck was empty, I was left alone. I asked the driver: ‘I was wrong, I’ll take you to another truck, but we’ll see you first,’ he said.
* He did not open the doors. I said, ‘Let me go, I have to go. He said ‘let’s be friends’, he was afraid to be alone. He didn’t know whether to scream, if he would attack, hit or slap the man, so he was anxious. My psychology is broken.
* He asked for my phone number. I said let me give it to him and get rid of it. Gave. Only then did he leave me alone. He said, “Let’s meet, let’s open a house, I’ll do whatever it takes for you.” It cost me a lot.
* He took me to another stop. He put me in the Topkapi van, so I got out. When I was alone, Özgecan crossed my mind, I was very scared. “
* Saying that the driver’s father called him and apologized, Nodira M. said that the driver did not apologize and then went to the lawyer.

Explaining that he felt uncomfortable while traveling from one place to another, how many people were left on the buses and whether he was alone or not, Nodira M. said: “No one can treat us like that because we are foreigners. 5-6 years have passed, this is the first time I live here. My psychology is very bad. I want justice. No one has the right to treat me like this. “I am a woman,” he said.
