The accident occurred at the Akçay Caddesi Gaziemir crossing at 00:30. When a breakdown occurred in the 35-plate truck ADU 946 under the direction of Basri Y., which was traveling from Karabakh to Gaziemir, the driver parked the vehicle on the right side of the road. While Basri Y., who parked the truck, waited for help, 35 silver jeep AGV 597 under the direction of Mehmet Çeken collided with the truck from behind. When the jeep returned to the iron pile due to the impact, the people around reported the situation to the health and police teams. While the teams that arrived at the warning were watching for road safety, it was determined that Çeken died at the scene in the control carried out by the medical teams.

Police officer Çeken, who was working at the Sarnıç police station, was revealed to be on leave and drove home with his car. As part of the investigation into the accident, truck driver Basri Y. was arrested. After the Crime Scene Investigation (OYI) teams examined the accident area, Mehmet Çeken’s body was taken to the morgue of the Izmir Institute of Forensic Medicine for autopsy after the prosecutor’s investigation.
