In accordance with the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Council of the IMM, the opening of the ISMEK courses, which are planned to begin with face-to-face education, was postponed to a later date. It was decided to keep the IMM cultural centers closed and to close all the museums, as well as the IMM sports facilities operated by SPOR AŞ. Performing arts with audiences will also take place online in the indoor room.

“The Covid 19 outbreak continues to spread rapidly in the second wave globally,” the statement said. “Unfortunately, the epidemic has also tended to spread rapidly in our country and even exceeded its effect in the April-March period, according to the testimony of scientists.”

TWO THOUSAND IMM EMPLOYEES BECOME A CROWN

Health Minister Dr. Fahrettin Koca’s statement, emphasizing that ‘the city where the epidemic is most intense is Istanbul’, included the following information:

* Consequently, approximately half the number of cases and deaths occur in Istanbul. Similar data is also valid for the employees of IMM and its subsidiaries.

* Despite all the measures we have taken to protect our employees and citizens, since February, when the first official case has not yet entered our country, until today, the Covid-19 tests of approximately 2000 IMM employees and their Affiliate employees are positive. Additionally, our 1,322 staff are also under quarantine.

THE PROCEDURE TAKES TIME

The statement recorded:

* Procedures for patient determinations and quarantine processes take time. For example, personnel who do not show any symptoms of the disease are detected only through routine testing, putting public service personnel at risk of spreading transmission until detected.

* In addition, when we add the personnel who are not suitable to work in the Presidency circular, it is obvious that there is a serious loss of staff.

* In this context, as IMM, the recommendations made by IMM’s Scientific Advisory Board to prevent the spread of contamination both in society and among employees and to avoid any disruption of service were carefully examined and the following decisions were made:

ISMEK, SPORTS HALLS AND CULTURAL CENTERS ARE CLOSED

1) The opening of ISMEK courses, whose registration period continues and face-to-face education is expected to begin soon, has been postponed to a later date. Online courses will continue in certain areas.

2) Scientific data indicates that sports halls and swimming pools are areas where pollution spreads rapidly. On this occasion, it was decided to close the facilities owned by IMM and operated by our subsidiary Spor AS.

3) The Cultural Centers will remain closed.

4) It was decided to perform performing arts online in the inner room.

5) It was decided to close all museums belonging to IMM that are not included in the open air.

Can be expanded even further

In the statement, “In parallel with the additional measures that our government must take in the field of fighting the epidemic, the dimensions of the closure may expand even further. In this context, all the other procedures of the municipality, which must be carried out, will continue with their routine activity ”.
