The IMM took a series of measures that will be implemented from Thursday, November 19, to prevent the increase in prevalence in Istanbul, where the Covid 19 epidemic was most intense.
The opening of the ISMEK courses, which are planned to start face-to-face training within the framework of the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Council of the IMM, has been postponed to a later date.
It was decided to keep the IMM cultural centers closed and to close all the museums, as well as the IMM sports facilities operated by SPOR AŞ. Performing arts with audiences will also take place online in the indoor room.
The IMM statement, which has started working remotely and alternately as of November 9 in the field of measures, on the decisions taken is as follows:
“The Covid 19 outbreak continues to spread rapidly as a second wave globally. Unfortunately, the epidemic has begun to spread rapidly in our country and even exceeded its effect in the April-March period, according to statements by scientists. Dear Minister of Health Dr. According to Fahrettin Koca’s statements, Istanbul is the city where the epidemic is most intense in our country. Consequently, approximately half the number of cases and deaths occur in Istanbul. Similar data is also valid for the employees of IMM and its subsidiaries. Despite all the measures we have taken to protect our employees and citizens, since February, when the first official case has not yet entered our country, until today, the Covit-19 tests of approximately 2000 IMM employees and their employees affiliates are positive. Additionally, our 1,322 staff are also under quarantine.
Procedures for patient screening and quarantine processes take time. For example, personnel who do not show any symptoms of the disease are detected only through routine testing, putting public service personnel at risk of spreading transmission until detected. Furthermore, when we add the staff who are not fit to work in the Presidency circular, it is obvious that there is a serious loss of staff.

In this context, as IMM, the recommendations made by IMM’s Scientific Advisory Board to prevent the spread of contamination both in society and among employees and to avoid any interruption of service were carefully examined and the following decisions were made:
1) The opening of ISMEK courses, whose registration period continues and face-to-face education is expected to begin soon, has been postponed to a later date. Online courses will continue in certain areas.
2) Scientific data indicates that sports halls and swimming pools are areas where pollution spreads rapidly. On this occasion, it was decided to close the facilities owned by IMM and operated by our subsidiary Spor AS.
3) The Cultural Centers will remain closed.
4) It was decided to perform performing arts online in the inner room.
5) It was decided to close all museums belonging to IMM that are not included in the open air.
Parallel to the additional steps that our government must take in the fight against the epidemic, the dimensions of the closure will be further expanded. In this context, all other procedures belonging to the municipality that must continue will continue with their routine activities. ”
