Perre Ancient City, which is one of the five largest cities in the Kingdom of Commagene and retained its importance in Roman times, was found in excavations in the area where 2,000-year-old cave tombs were found in the Perre area, a 160-meter-long ladder structure and a male skeleton dating back 1,500 years. .
The director of the Adiyaman Museum, Mehmet Alkan, said that after an 11-year break, a 160-meter-long ladder structure was unearthed in excavations restarted in the ancient city this year.
Claiming that a male skeleton was found in the section of the cemetery at the end of the newly discovered staircase, Alkan said: “This male skeleton dates back about 1500 years, and it is very important that it is intact today. We note that a poultry animal and bones appeared on the side of the skeleton. This shows us that it was presented as dead food. The fact that the 1500-year-old skeleton remains intact here can guide archaeologists, “he said.
Alkan claimed that the reason the skeleton lasted so long was due to excess soil structure and said: “The reason the skeleton is strong is that the soil structure is buried too deep and too deep. The reason why No one is woven is also the reason to remain intact. Otherwise, the skeletons turn to dust. “
