405 BILLION CUBIC METERS OF GAS FOUND

The Fatih drillship, which continues its activities in the Black Sea, encountered 320 billion cubic meters of gas for the first time in the Sakarya exploration field. The ship, which continues its exploration activities, has encountered 85 billion cubic meters of gas in recent weeks. Thus, the Fatih drillship discovered 405 billion cubic meters of gas in the Black Sea.

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN HAS ANNOUNCED WITH THESE WORDS

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the following in his speech on the Fatih drillship “We sent our Fatih Drilling ship to the Black Sea from Haydarpaşa on May 29, the 567th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul. Our ship began drilling in the Tuna-1 well of the Sakarya field on July 20.

As a result of the works, we announced to our nation the good news that there are 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the first two layers of the well under the seabed on August 21.

Our ship, which continued its drilling activities after this date, reached a depth of 4,445 meters. Another 85 billion cubic meters were added to the reserve, which we discovered as a result of testing, analysis and detailed engineering studies. The natural gas reserve in the Danube 1 region of the Sakarya field has reached 405 billion cubic meters.

Work on this well ended when it reached a depth of 4,775 meters. Our Fatih drillship will continue its drilling activities in the Türkali-1 well in the Sakarya field, after the maintenance, supply and technical preparation stages.

We look forward to receiving good news from Türkali-1. The reservoir we discovered in the Black Sea is our largest hydrocarbon resource so far. Our goal is to make this gas available to our nation by 2023. We will transport the natural gas that we discovered on the Danube-1 to our lands through the platform that will be established here and integrate it into our country’s system.
