The fight against the second wave of the new type of coronavirus (Covid-19) in Europe continues. The British Parliament approved the quarantine decision made by the government as part of the fight against the virus. In the vote in the House of Commons, the quarantine decision was accepted with 38 to 516 votes. Consequently, the quarantine that will begin tonight in the United Kingdom will run until December 2. All stores will be closed, except for markets and pharmacies where basic products are sold, and the public will only leave home for education, work, food shopping and exercise. The gathering of different family members during the quarantine was prohibited. It was decided to keep schools and universities open. Bars and restaurants may only offer take away food.
In the statement made by the British Ministry of Health, it was reported that 25,117 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours, and the total number of cases reached 1 million 99 thousand 59. While 492 people died in the last 24 hours due to Covid-19 in the country, the number of deaths amounted to 47,742.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who announced the aforementioned decision on October 31, stated that national restrictions should be applied again in England and most of Europe, saying that “if we do not act, we can see that the deaths in this country have increased by several thousand figures. ” Emphasizing that as of November 5, citizens should not go out for education, work, exercise, basic needs, and medical reasons, Johnson stated that retail stores and businesses such as bars, restaurants, and entertainment centers that do not do take-out should stay closed.
