MOBILITY BY NEEDS

In the tent cities established in various regions for the citizens whose houses were damaged after the earthquake in Izmir, all the needs of the earthquake victims are met.

The Turkish Red Crescent, Bornova Municipality and non-governmental organizations are working feverishly in the Tent Town consisting of 210 tents set up by AFAD in Bornova district in the old Bornova district stadium. The needs of the citizens housed in the nearly full tent city are met, such as food, drink, clothing and blankets.

Ferhat Altın, who settled in the tent because their houses were damaged, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the tent city was established in a very short time and that temporary accommodation needs were met.

Explaining that they settled in the store like his family because their houses were damaged, Altın said:

“He immediately started coming here to help from any point of the Turkey earthquake. We knew Turkey would be supportive in such a situation and we have witnessed it. Here he met all of our needs. Food, clothing and many of our needs as they come from all over the world. Now, thank God, our situation is good. We hear that in many parts of Izmir, shelter is provided for those affected by the earthquake. May Allah be pleased with our state. “

Stating that they were afraid to enter their home, Güler Tombaz said that despite the difficult days they had, all their needs were quickly taken care of in the tent city. Tombaz said: “Our need for shelter is met very quickly. All our needs are met. God bless you. We are very sad and psychologically bad, but we have everything here and we do not need anything. May Allah not show it again,” he said.

IN EARTHQUAKE, THE NIGHT IS COOL

Citizens who were unable to enter their homes and stayed in tents after the Izmir earthquake tried to warm themselves by lighting a fire in front of their tents against the air temperature that dropped below 10 degrees at night. In addition to fear of earthquakes, citizens who are sick from the cold and do not want to experience coronavirus anxiety are waiting for their lives to return to normal.

Tents were set up in designated areas of the city for those living in damaged apartments and citizens unable to enter their homes due to unrest. Several NGOs, especially AFAD, Red Crescent and municipalities in the region, continue to offer food, bedding, blankets, clothing and hot drinks to citizens.

WEATHER IS LESS THAN 10 DEGREES AT NIGHT

In İzmir’s Bayraklı and Bornova districts, which see 20 degrees during the day, the air temperature has dropped for the past two days, especially at night. According to tonight’s weather data, the air temperature in Bornova was measured at 11 degrees, and in the Bayraklı district it dropped to 9.8 degrees. Victims of the earthquake in Tent City tried to warm themselves by lighting a fire in front of their tents when the weather cooled down. Citizens who want to forget their fear of earthquakes also worry about getting sick as the weather turns colder.

“INSIDE LIKE ICE”

Baran Çalışkantürk said he was at his workplace during the earthquake and experienced great fear, and said he took precautions by hiding under the table. Çalışkantürk said their workplace began to remain in the tent city with the severe damage and said the weather started to get colder and they were having difficulties. Çalışkantürk said: “It is cold inside. We have to stay by the fire until late at night. It’s colder after 2AM Outside, we’re warming up late by lighting a fire. Thanks to them they help with all kinds of food, clothing and fuel, ”he said.

“FEAR OF LIVES IN OUR HOUSE, IT IS COLD OUTSIDE”

Erdem Akgün claimed that the earthquake would happen again and continued in the tent, said the air is getting colder in the morning and said: “All our needs are covered, but the tent is not like a house. You stay on the ground and feel the cold. People are very concerned about the corona virus, as well as the fear of earthquakes. We are afraid of both sides. If we go to our houses, there is fear of life, even if we do not, there is a cold outside. I hope the cases don’t explode after this earthquake, ”he said.
