The Mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, conducted examinations in Seferihisar, the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck Izmir. Mayor Soyer was accompanied by his wife Neptün Soyer, as well as the Mayor of Seferihisar İsmail Adult and municipal officials.
Mayor Soyer, who examined houses, workplaces and the marina in the Kaleiçi region of Sığacık, which was damaged by the overflow of seawater after the earthquake, delivered the message “We are with you” to the citizens .
“GREAT LOSSES AND DESTRUCTIONS DID NOT OCCUR”
In making a statement after his examinations, President Soyer said:
* There have been major earthquakes in Seferihisar before. People stayed in the streets. We tried to heal earthquake wounds outside for weeks.
* We learned a lot from all this. After that day, we worked together to organize the building stock, new licenses and new constructions in Seferihisar.
* Fortunately, although the center of this great earthquake was Seferihisar, there were no major casualties or destruction. We find comfort in this. Therefore, we are happy in some way.
“WE WILL PASS THE WOUNDS BY UNION”
Reminiscent of the tsunami behind the earthquake, the Mayor of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, continued his remarks as follows:
* We only saw the so-called tsunami in the movies. Turns out he had a future for us. Therefore, we are very sorry. Our citizens have experienced great victimization.
* Our shameless citizens, people who earn their bread with manual labor and sweat, have suffered greatly. Therefore, we are very sorry. But we will heal the wounds together.
* We are happy that nothing has happened in the lives of our citizens. All of these have compensation. As the metropolitan municipality of İzmir, we are with the municipality of Seferihisar to the end. We will be with our citizens until the end. We will heal the wounds completely
Mayor Soyer also met with Antalya Metropolitan Deputy Mayor Mehmet Hacıarifoğlu, who came to Izmir for support.
