Smyrna was shaken by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred off Seferihisar. The earthquake, which was also felt in the surrounding provinces, had the greatest impact in the Bayraklı and Bornova districts of İzmir. The crews that continued to work on the remains of the Doğanlar apartment detected noise on the third floor around 07:00.
The teams contacted 38-year-old mother Seher Dereli Perinçek, who was under the rubble, and learned that Perinçek was with her children, twin brothers Ezel and Elzem Perinçek, 10, Umut Perinçek, from 7 years old, and Elif Perinçek, 3 years old.
Crews concentrated their efforts to reach the rubble from both the kitchen and the living room.

Approximately 21 hours after the earthquake, the call from crews in the remains of Doğanlar’s apartment to “hit 3 times if you hear my voice” was answered.
Mother and children taken
The teams reached the mothers and children approximately 23 hours after my depression. The teams that formed a corridor in the area began to carry out one by one with stretchers the mother and children who were under the rubble.
